Introduction
New GA traffic at Schiphol Oost (East).
The scenery covers the entire Netherlands countryside, including cities, freeways, national roads, railways and water surfaces. The scenery is created by the NL2000 team who are a group of enthusiastic and dedicated scenery developers. The development of version 2.9 from version 2.1 took more than 2 years. Many hours of trials and errors to get the most out of the current technology. The Netherlands 2000 scenery v2.9 service pack 2 is freeware, but it is copyrighted by the freeware laws.
Following first are the changes and improvements since service pack 1, issued on 14 June 2004. For all new features of the 2.9x versions of the scenery since version 2.1, please read the article: The making of the Netherlands 2000, version 2.9.
Changes and improvements since NL2000 V2.9 service pack 1
General improvements:
- The border areas of the Netherlands with Germany and Belgium will not cause a system crash anymore.
- No trees at wrong places at any of the airports along the borders with Germany and Belgium.
- Improved AFCAD files and AI traffic files.
- Schiphol Airport (EHAM) now has dynamic runway allocation for more realism with a choice of three AFCAD versions where the third variation offers separation between GA traffic at Schiphol Oost (East) and regular traffic with the help of Bert de Bruin.
- Rotterdam (EHRD), Eindhoven (EHEH) and Groningen Eelde (EHGG) now have daylight runway lighting. See the picture below.
- The Feature Panel has been improved and has new features.
- Many small improvements on most of the airports.
- Landable helicopter platforms at Neeltje Jans and the oil rigs at Ameland and Texel.
- Improved “White winter” texturing.

Feature Panel additions:
The Feature Panel is a helpful tool.
The Feature Panel which we introduced since version 2.9 has been improved. The Feature Panel makes it easy to adapt your settings depending on your computers performance as well as your personal preferences. Especially the following new options have been added:
- NL2000 helicopter platforms for FS2004 only. This option makes it possible to land helicopters at four oil rigs around Ameland and Texel, as well as a new elevated land based helicopter platform at Neeltje Jans.
- Improved AI traffic at Schiphol (EHAM) for FS2004 only.
- A selection of three different NAVAID’s for EHAM depending on the detail of ATC and realism you prefer.
- Daylight runway lighting at EHRD, EHEH and EHGG when your COM1 is on the correct tower frequency for that airport.

Installation using an Installation Wizard
Installing the scenery is easy by running the installation wizard which we specially developedĀ in-house. The wizard checks automatically for the presence of either FS2002 or FS2004 and copies the files and settings appropriately. It will also create a Feature Panel icon on your desktop for easy access to the features. And for those of you who unfortunately want to remove NL2000 scenery, which won’t happen too often I’m sure, there’s an automatic de-installation which cleans up everything and restores the original settings before the installation.
No piece of software, how simple or complex it seems, will ever be perfect. Our software and data is not an exception. However, our web site offers a forum where problems can be reported and our team members will do their utmost to suggest a fix. Please check our website for news and our FAQ section first as the problem may already have been corrected.
Final Words
The NL2000 team wishes you all many happy landings and free round trips above this wonderful country with colourful tulips, beautiful water features and great cities. Most of all we hope you’ll enjoy this version as much as you did the other versions, and as much as we enjoyed making this possible.
