Suggestion for the next version of the NL2000 installer

Post by jorgenandersen » Tue Oct 07, 2014 2:39 am

My FSX installation is somewhat non-standard in that I have FSX on my F: drive, I use the Scenery Configuration Editor (by Dr. Andrew Thornton) to install my scenery, and I have a lot of photoscenery on my E: drive. For this reason, I prefer manual installation, so, is it possible in the next version of the NL2000 installer to make 2 options, one for automatic installation as now, and another option for manual install that you point to a temporary folder where you want the airport or other unpacked and then you move into place yourself?

Enjoying the NL2000 scenery a lot -

The new installer works just fine with the scenery, I can move it to just where I want. Good job!

But, a minor point - it still installs the AI Traffic files directly to Scenery\World\Scenery, and the AI aircraft to Simobjects\Airplanes. Not a problem with the Traffic files, but in case someone has modified the AI aircraft folders - added new planes - the installer will then overwrite the aircraft.cfg file in the various aircraft folders, and the modifications there will be lost.

I would suggest that if you modified said AI aircraft files, always make a backup of the modified files.
So incase of any update you can replace the files yourselve.

Actually, I do it a little bit differently.

I have all my AI aircraft in a folder I call AI\Airplanes, directly under the FSX root. That way I can keep better track of what I have.
