scenery is fantastic, but....

I finally downloaded everything, and your scenery is fantastic! However, the scenery tiles seem to load slowly. As I am flying along, they load up in patches in front of me. Before they load, only fuzzy ground textures. My computer is pretty powerful:

Intel Dual Core 1.86 GHZ
2GB of RAM
1G of Video memory

My framerates are good. Any way of getting the tiles to load faster and smoother?

You haven't told us much about your disk configuration. How filled up is it? NTFS starts slowing down when it has less than 30% free. Have you recently defragmented it? Also check the manual for suggestions. Then get back to us, as you should have a flyable machine there, depending on the state. Also check your virusscanner: when it's agressively scanning all files your pc tries to read, it will significantly impact performance. Normally it only makes sense to scan access to executable files, which our bitmaps aren't.

I have over 50% of my hard drive free, so that isn't it. I do have my McAfee virus scanner running. I will try it with that turned off and see what happens and let you know.

OK, that was it. My virus scanner was slowing everything down. I disabled it while flying, and now it loads MUCH better. Congratulations on some VERY excellent scenery. It almost makes you feel like you are really there. A really beautiful country! :)

Glad you found the problem, and that it all works out for you.

Btw, what's your location?
