FS9 Goto Airport Menu Problem

Post by gwinsk » Wed Sep 29, 2004 1:56 pm

I've recently hit a problem with FS9's Goto Airport Menu. Hitting each country in turn, in alphabetical order, produces the list of airfields in that country. As a UK flier, I go to United Kingdom and it leaves up the list from the previous country. It doesn't seem to look for United Kingdom entries.

Looking further, I find the problem isn't confined to the UK. It applies to anything below the entry for The Netherlands. Go up one, to Thailand,
and it works. Got to Timor, or anything lower, and Zilch. Even the normally dominant
United States doesn't work. The menu still contains a higher alphabetical entry, for Netherlands the; this works OK.
The entry for The Netherlands produces only an offering of 3 Cities, though four display:
Heligoland, Rigg 1, Rigg 2, Rigg 3. It does not list any other fields for the Netherlands.
I've deleted Netherlands 2000 scenery but no improvement. Installing it had obviously resulted in other changes; the FS9.CFG file's [FACILITIES] cOUNTRY line was set to The Netherlands.
Despite having eliminated all refences to Netherlands 2000, the Goto Airports Menu still has an entry for "the Netherlands".

I can't see any pointers to where the Menu collects its counties data, so that I can remove the second Netherlands line.

Any ideas, anyone, please?

Which got me thinking. A check in FS9 Addon Scenery's Scenery folder showed 4 related AFCADs, starting with AF2NL2K9V1_EH03. The names suggested they were V9.1 upgrade related and hadn't been removed by the official Manual Uninstal routine.
I removed the four and the problem disappeared.
