System Crash After NL2000 Ver. 2.9 Installation

Post by UgotIT » Sun Apr 25, 2004 3:24 pm

G’ Day,

First off, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the NL2000 Team for their on-going dedication they have shown in introducing the Version 2.9 NL2000 scenery package.

However, so far I have not been able to enjoy the fruits of their labor because of constant crashes of the scenery package.

To be specific; the following problem is occurring.

---------------------

The Main Problem: (After the NL2000 V.2.9 Installation)

Each time I load FS2004, the load up works without problems. Then when I try to go to a Netherlands Airport via add-on scenery OR the standard scenery interface i.e. Lelystad, my complete computer hangs up and the only way out is to press CTRL/ALT/Delete. This happens everytime a Dutch Airport is selected. All other airports outside of Holland work flawlessly.

This has made using the scenery package impossible.

----------------------

I have followed the exact guidelines for the installation of the scenery package. I have checked (and re-checked) the scenery installation and even placed the original back-up textures in the FS2004 texture folder thinking another scenery package may be the culprit. So far nothing has worked.

I have used the NL2000 V. 2.9 primary interface to reduce all loading options, as well as reduced my FS2004 setting to the minimum. This has had no positive effect.

My system meets or exceeds the required specifications for the add-on scenery, so I doubt that is the problem.

Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

I have reinstalled the scenery four times now thinking this may sort out the problem. All to no avail.

Any advice or assistance you could give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

With Kind Regards,
Dave

Can you try something:

- start featurepanel
- click on NL2000 Misc.
- select the first option button of NL2000 model version

Please inform us if this solution works for the crashes, that give us an idea about the problem.

One thing, I forgot to mention, did you use 'apply changes' after selecting the model?

Dave,

We received a tip from Italy, which we haven't tried out yet. Can you do the following:

Open with notepad the file terrain.cfg, which is in the maindirectory of FS2004.

Then change the following strings:
- MaskClassMap=1
- MaskClassMap=3

both into MaskClassMap=0

You will find these strings many times, so change them all.
Don't forget to make a backup of the terrain.cfg before you start.

Pls let us know if this works, as we have more complains about this problem, which seems to be a general problem in FS and add-on scenery.

If your Italian is good, you can take a look at: http://www.aliditalia.com/crashlandpack.html

Dat zei ik toch. Zie:

Arno dacht niet dat het zou werken. Ik had daarna nog steeds crashes.

Hi Bert,

I have tried the change with the terrain .cfg file, however the same crash occurs. I will be conducting a "fresh" install of FS2004 later today and then try a new install of the NL2000 V. 2.9 scenery. I'm thinking that "maybe" this will cure the problem.

I'll keep you informed if this works.

Any other ideas are most welcome.

Hope your enjoying the start of the summer over there and if you get up to Enkhuizen, you'll be sure to have a pils and a fresh haring at the harbor their for me (I sure do miss Nord Holland!)

With Kind Regards,

Dave

OK Dave,

Arno suggested in another tread to do this:

Can you try one thing? Can you delete the files nl2000_2.bgl, nl2000_3.bgl and nl2000_4.bgl

This helped Ugandaone to solve his hangup around EHAM.
The fact that these files are gone isn't a big problem.

Let us know it this helped you as well.

Post by Ianh » Thu May 06, 2004 5:29 pm

I have eaxctly the same proble as soon as I cross the North sea my system crashes. I have followed all the suggestions with no lucK

Could "my traffic" which I have installed be causing the conflict?

The same fault occurs flying towards Holland from France.

So far, we have no idea what causes this problem. All teammembers and Betatesters cannot repeat this problem.

Saturday may 15 we have a teammember meeting to discuss problems with V2.9. This problem is also on the agenda.
