FS 2004 crashes as I cross into Dutch ATC

Post by ugandaone » Sun Apr 18, 2004 10:55 pm

I love the new scenery but every time I try to fly from Heathrow to Amsterdam FS2004 crashes. Gave tried to locate duplicate AFCADS and deleted them but getting very frustrated.

Would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks.

Can you give us some more info about your settings? Several of us have tried it, but so far no hang-ups.

Does the problem occurs also when you come from another direction into dutch airspace, f.i. via Luxumburg, Belgium, over the southwest into Holland?

I enabled the Afcads for FS2004 and Classic Textures. Also enabled the feature raising altitude for AI a/c. That's it.

Runs perfectly well until I cross over from Dutch to UK ATC just after or just before Refsa waypoint. Crashes in both directions as well. Its not an FS2004 glitch as I unistalled all my scenery this afternoon and the handover worked perfectly.

Ominously this afternoon I also only set up Gary Simmons Heathrow and your beautiful scenery to fly Heathrow to Schipol in the Eurowings A319 addon and it crashed again. Once I uninstalled Netherlands from the library it worked fine with the same add-on aircraft.

Now going to reinstall with no settings to see where the conflict could be arising.

Thanks for the reply by the way.

In case you get a hang-up once more, can you let us know the FS coordinates?

Several of our teammembers have tried the same thing, without any problem so far.

Just wondering if i can send you the uninstall log which makes interesting reading. Seems to idicate that settings I had deleted were not installed

I am going to redownload the scenery from another source in case I got a corrupted version.

Can you send your e-mail contact to my address please so I can send you the log?

Thanks

If you want you can mail the log file to me (use the email button below the post for my address), I will then sent it to other team members if needed.

Well in desperation I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything from scratch and one at a time. Once I reinstalled FS2004 I flew the route with no additional scenery and it went fine (I thought I might be getting the infamous seasonal bug).

Then I reinstalled NL2000 as the first add-on and voila!. CTD at REDFA. Just after actually at the BOD.

Beginning to wonder if I have a problem with my graphics card and the huge increase in information it must need to handle with NL2000. Shame really as I like the scenery.

Is there any way I can just add Schipol as that is where I am flying to when I get the CTDs.

Going to try another route in case theres a conflict only on that approach

No, at this moment you can not install EHAM alone. We will try to provide such instructions in the future, but we are concentrating on the patch at the moment.

Can you try one thing? Can you replace the files nl2000_2.bgl, nl2000_3.bgl and nl2000_4.bgl and then see if that solves the problem? I can not reproduce the problem on my PC so I can't test it myself.

By replace do you mean remove?

Oops, yes I meant remove them for now and see if that solves the problem.

That worked! Reselected the scenery using the scenery library but with no additional settings and having placed those 3 files in a sub folder within the NL2000 scenery directory.

Thanks for the suggestion; actually got a completion REDFA to Schipol without a CTD. Now going to add back my settings and see if it still works.

BTW what have we removed? I don't see much change to the scenery to be honest and in fact the scenery joins look better than before.

These files are the landclass scenery, they make sure you see the correct texture far away. But now we have something we can look at to solve it :D.

I can live without long distance sight for the moment; at least I can get to Schipol!

Many thanks for your help Arno. BTW I used to live in Den Haag in the 90's so this scenery is bringing back memories especially the southern approaches into the airport of course.

Once you have sorted out the problem at your end can you let me know as I should imagine you will be revising the three files a little.
