Will This Post Vanish As Well?

Post by UgotIT » Sun Apr 25, 2004 5:51 pm

G’ Day,

First off, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the NL2000 Team for their on-going dedication they have shown in introducing the Version 2.9 NL2000 scenery package.

However, so far I have not been able to enjoy the fruits of their labor because of constant crashes of the scenery package.

To be specific; the following problem is occurring.

---------------------

The Main Problem: (After the NL2000 V.2.9 Installation)

Each time I load FS2004, the load up works without problems. Then when I try to go to a Netherlands Airport via add-on scenery OR the standard scenery interface i.e. Lelystad, my complete computer hangs up and the only way out is to press CTRL/ALT/Delete. This happens everytime a Dutch Airport is selected. All other airports outside of Holland work flawlessly.

This has made using the scenery package impossible.

----------------------

I have followed the exact guidelines for the installation of the scenery package. I have checked (and re-checked) the scenery installation and even placed the original back-up textures in the FS2004 texture folder thinking another scenery package may be the culprit. So far nothing has worked.

I have used the NL2000 V. 2.9 primary interface to reduce all loading options, as well as reduced my FS2004 setting to the minimum. This has had no positive effect.

My system meets or exceeds the required specifications for the add-on scenery, so I doubt that is the problem.

Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

I have reinstalled the scenery four times now thinking this may sort out the problem. All to no avail.

Any advice or assistance you could give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

With Kind Regards,
Dave

Dave,

Did you use the feature panel to make settings to NL2000?

In case you did, can you let us know which checkboxes you have marked?

Do you use the latest drivers to your videocard
Do you use Direct X 9b?

Hi Bert, Thanks for the response.

I have left all the check box's unchecked on the feature panel. The intial scenery config is working upon the first start-up of FS2004 right after the intial install of NL2000 Ver. 2.9 i.e. Building Scenery Files.

My System specs are as follows:

WXP Pro Version
P4 2.2 G
1MB On Board Memory
Geforce4 TI4600 -w- Direct X 9b -w- latest drivers.

As stated before Bert, every other aspect of FS2004 is (and has been) working. As soon as a Netherlands airport is loaded, the system hangs up / freezes and needs a system "soft" boot to get back to WXP Pro. This is constant.

I have checked the scenery config file for the flatten switches, and compared them with the english read me file. That checks out OK.

One thing that may be important is where the system freezes. It seems the problem starts just at the point of selecting Lelystad airport (for example) and when you click OK to go back to the Create Flight Screen, the system freezes without going any further.

One other important point: When I go to any other airport outside of Holland and start there i.e. JFK, and then go to a Dutch Airport, it hangs up after the OK button is pushed. The whole system freezes.

This as far as I can get into the new scenery.

Hope this limited info helps Bert. I'm sorry it's not more but I don't know what more to add that would be helpfull.

With Kind Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

This is strange. I assume in your specs you mean 1 GB of memory on board? That should be enough.

How long have you waited before concluding that FS is really frozen? It can take some time to load a complex scenery like NL2000. At this moment there are no other things I can think of.
