Some questions

Post by harpsi » Sun Apr 11, 2004 10:19 pm

Hi

I have some questions.
1) How is possible to install just the main airports namely Schiphol since my zip file is a complete zip file, so I don´t know what files belong to Schiphol?
2) I have the ultimate traffic installed but even without it, it seems that even with the best computer like mine, we have an old problem that maybe everyone is aware and that we have talked more than thousand times: FRAME RATES. How it is possible to improve this scvenery? I don´t know if the workers thought about this question, but I don´t know how it is possible to have 6 or less frames in an Atnlon 2500 XP, 1024 DDR 333, geforce 4 - 128 megabites and Asus A7V8X-X ...

No, at this moment not. We will probably provide instructions to install single airports later on. But at this moment there is not list which files are needed by which airport.

AI traffic always uses a lot of frames, so on a complex airport like Schiphol it might be better to use less AI.

Hi,

I said that even with no AI traffic, frame rate is the same...
You might have some options ...

We always try to optimize the scenery as much as possible, so only for the next release you can expect big changes. Don't expect much increase with future patches, it would require redesign of the entire airport.

Playing with the scenery density can of course help in improving the frames.

Hi,

Scenery density is medium! If I put everything low then better not to fly ...
Otherwise i have a good computer so I dont know what is happening. In FS 2002 I couldn´t fly just 3 sceneries: wilco boxes and this one. It seems that now we have the same problem :(

Even on a Athlon 1.4 Ghz - Geforce 4 128MB - 512 MB SDRAM, NL2000 v2.9 and Ultimate traffic on 100% I get 7 fps. So I think you have to adjust some settings (like decreasng the visability in the weather menu) or install new drivers.

Hi,

I have 0 % traffic. I have slidders at dense. I have 24 frames in 95 % of the sceneries, except the ones from wilco and nL 2000...
DO you think that with 24 frames or more in 95 % of the sceneries is a reason to install new drivers?

Well, in the middle of Schiphol with all sliders at maximum, and 100% AI traffic (airport almost filled up to capacity) I am getting like 9 frames at the worst, and it goes up by 4 frames if I put AI traffic at zero %.

My system is 3,4 GHZ Pentium 4, 1 giga of RAM, Radeon 9800Pro 256M, state of the art, haha, not bad...

Congratulations to all the NL2000 Team, you have made a FANTASTIC WORK OF ART!! The Feature Panel is excellent, absolutely impressive!!

P.S. Just a question, I get the second part of every finger (the one without the round little windows) totally white. Is this normal or do I have a missing texture file?

I assume yo mean the gates? It is correct that there are no windows in the second part and it has a rather white texture (should be the same color as the rest of the gate).

What other sceneries give in frames is not really relevant.

Most other sceneries only have an airport, this scenery contain an entire country. So when you are at Schiphol this means that also part of Amsterdam is loaded and the roads and towns around the city. So maybe you need to optimize the PC better to get good result wtih such a complex scenery.
