NL Files files to keep/backup

After downloading the latest NL2000 V4 (V4.06) files, do I also have to keep/backup the older (V4.00, V4.01 and V4.02) files from the provinces and airfields etc. or are the latest files the complete area files?
The older versions are "spanned" zip files beginning with ****.nl2 and followed by ****.002, ****.003 etc.
If I have to keep them it takes a lot of diskspace.
