Test if the DVD images (.iso) are downloaded ok.

Post by Mark Arends » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:24 pm

If you have downloaded the .iso images you can test if they are downloaded correct before you burn them to DVD.

To check the DVD images it is possible to let your computer calculate a a code: a MD5 hash code. If your file is not correctly downloaded, the hash is not the same.

To calculate the hash code you need a program like WinMD5Sum:
http://www.nullriver.com/index/products/winmd5sum

After installing the program choose one .iso image by using the ".." button. To calculate the MD5 hash press the 'calculate' button.

The correct MD5 hashes are:
DVD 1 6be9644bcc15780ee1b3196a114fe0db
DVD 2 f3c971ab19e89226015bd2f3700ca0fb
DVD 3 8ca44df41469ea8d14f51f9dbc962cff
DVD 4 29ebdde9c8d133727c2a0834c1635e41
DVD 5 81d3bc5e2b73f4180519850e04d900cc

Copy and paste the correct code of the corresponding DVD image to the empy text field and press 'compare'. om ze te vergelijken.

If the hash codes are the same. The download was correct.

Are you using Firefox 2 or the Windows Explorer to download??
There are download problems with IE for downloading files bigger then 2 GB.

I only can say for the moment: keep on trying.
As far as I know there are no problems with the Eweka server.

Other possibility is to try if you can download DVD2 through the bittorent download system.

I had exactly the same problem with dvd 2 iso file which is why i went the bit torrent route. I got all the other iso files ok EXCEPT #2 so there may be an issue with that. Worth looking into...

After many trials with BitTorrent (stay away from that), FireFox, IE and no luck I downloaded the WGET utility. Finally it downloaded the whole thing and it supports "continue".

Unfortunately my DVD1 ISO image does not match the MD5 so try again...

How long did you wait? It takes a while to calculate the MD5 code.

Once you have selected the file.
You have to wait until the file is displayed in the file window.
Once this has happened then only you can select the calculate button.

If you do this earlier it will fail.

To calculate takes a while as the folder sizes are great. Thus you need some patience.

Hope this helps.

Best advise when you have selected a step go for a short walk... :lol[/b]
