Why that big?

Post by bustertje » Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:13 pm

Hi NL2000-team,
Great job! But...
The total installment of NL2000V3 takes 30Gb and the add-on is very good, but....
VOZv1.3 took only 500Mb...and is really fabulous!
Why such a big difference in filessize?

BTW i didn't get any answer to my former question about the compatibility of UT Europe; or count that as a No

Regards
Bert

Install it and you'll see :) - Vista Oz used mainly generic textures to cover the whole area, whereas I believe this uses a lot of area-specific detail, which means many more files.

Plus, these images are of much higher quality ;-)

This "a lot of area-specific detail" is as big understatement as it could be.
NL2000V3 uses 1m/pixel photoscenery for the whole territory of Netherlands, thus such a hefty download- only the photoscenery tiles are 25GB.

And what about compatibility with Ultimate terrain Europe - simply put the NL2000V3 sceneries on a higher layer that UT Europe and I don't see why there should be any problem.
