Manual Installation v2.91
Hallo,
first I want to express my thanks for Your impressive and real love-for-
detail scenery.
I already really enjoyed it on several VFR flights.
Now to my momentary problem:
I just loaded down the service pack 1 upgrade kit to v2.91 and i want to
install it manually in my FS2002 (as I did with the v2.9 basic version).
As I went through the files in this context, I found the zipped SCASM files
in the "ondergrond" folder and now I'm asking myself the following
questions:
1) As there are three versions of zipped scasm files in this folder -
What is the difference between these versions ?
Which version is for what purpose ?
What is the installation procedure for a manual installation of the
correct scasm-zip version in FS2002 ?
2) In which bgl-files are the "new" more precise flatten keys hidden ?
(I will omit those files in manual installation, because I use modified,
correct flatten files in my scenery.cfg already).
I'd be very grateful for an answer.
Regards, Norbert
P.S.: I do not know, whether someone recognized the item:
There is a problem similar to the "flatten" one (west german airfields
on hills or floating) existing - the eastern NL-exclude files also
exclude nearly all autobahns and roads in western germany; as far
east as Cologne and up to the North Sea !!!
Perhaps You should take care of this in the next service pack....

Re: Manual Installation v2.91
Hello Norbert,
The differences between the three versions are that one has landable water. The other two don't have landable water. Of those the one called Seamless textures uses different commands to place the ground polygons making that the textures tile better together. The one called classic is basically the old v2 style base scenery.
I would highly recommend to use the landable variant, as that looks best and give you must features (like being able to land your water plane and reflections in the water).
This zip file is handled by Featurepanel. So it is best to just install everything as written in the readme and then run Featurepanel once to select the base scenery type you want.NorbertMPower wrote:1) As there are three versions of zipped scasm files in this folder -

The file is called nl2kflat.bgl (if I remember correct). It is recommended to use this one, because it was not possible to split the flattens as accurate using the scenery.cfg file.NorbertMPower wrote:2) In which bgl-files are the "new" more precise flatten keys hidden ?

We'll have a look at this, you mean the roads in the default MS scenery of Germany? I guess our VTP exclude is too big in that case (we already made sure the normal excludes are the correct size.NorbertMPower wrote:P.S.: I do not know, whether someone recognized the item:

Hello Arno,
thank You for Your quick and detailed answer.
Concerning the scasm I will choose the landable water of course, as I did
in the basic version.
Could You tell me the name of the scasm.zip for the landable water,
please, because I want to do everything manually (as I did in all add-
on scenerieres, I have on my FS2002, and it worked out fine) in order
to "remain in control of what I did" ?
If the complete new flatten keys are in this one bgl only, I will give it a
try of course and delete my flatten lines in the scenery.cfg.
Nevertheless, they worked out fine for some two years.
Yes, I mean the roads in the default MS scenery of Germany.
I deactivated 9 or 10 of the "excludes" (could be, it were VTP's) and I've
got my roads back - it seems without any major deficiencies in other
areas.
OK; when I've got the information on the "landable water scasms" from
You, I can give it a go - and I'm eagerly awaiting this.
Thanks in advance,
Norbert
P.S.: By the way, when You are in filenames, could You give me the name
of the "classic"- and the "seamless" scasm.zip also, to make it complete ?

Helle Norbert,
Just for your information, maybe you are not aware of it: you can start featurepanel and then automatically switch between the 3 different surface models.
So, if you have installed all files manually, go to the featurepanel directory in the NL2000v29 directory.
One important fact: there is also an ini file in this directory. You should enter the path to the NL2000 scenery and the flightsim directory, I give my settings as an example:
nl2000v29path=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\29\nl2000_V2_9\
FS2002_path=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\
FS2004_path=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\
Please read article about featurepanel on our website if you want to know more about featurepanel.
If you did know about featurepanel, please ignore this information, I want to be sure that you know that you don't need to switch manually between the surface models.

Hello Johan,
thank's for Your answer.
I DID know already about the feature panel of course, but as I ONLY want
to use the landable water-version of the scasms anyway (I do not want to
switch), I would prefer, if You gave me the zip-name of these scasms in
order to copy and paste them manually.
And for completeness it would be nice, if You could give me the names and
differences (which is what) of the two other (not landable versions) also.
Regards, Norbert
P.S.: To make it clear, what I mean; I've got those three zip files for the
scasm versions:
- Scasm_FP.zip
- Scasm_FP_geknipt_sp1.zip
- Scasm_nonFP.zip
Which is what, especially the landable water one ?

Dear Arno and other nl2000 experts,
please help me out with this question, because otherwise I won't be able
to install the upgrade in a way satisfying for me.
I tried the feature panel on an other computer with a basic FS2002, but it
does not wor this way - and I really want to install the files in my complete
(and functioning) FS2002 pure manually !

Sorry for the late answer, my kid had to be two days in the hospital, so that's why it took some time.
Here is an explination of what the zips are:
Scasm_FP.zip
This is the zip with the files that have seamless surface textures. This variant is the fastest variant of the three, but uses textures instead of the default Microsoft water techniques.
Scasm_FP_geknipt_sp1.zip
This is the zip with the sp1 files that have seamless surface textures and landable water. You need this as an addition on Scasm_fp_geknipt.zip of the original v2.9. The included files are recreated because of some issues with the surface.
Scasm_nonFP.zip
This is the old v1 and v2 variant (in featurepanel called classic), without seamless textures and without landable water. You normally don't use this variant, because the scasm_FP is theoretically slightly faster than this variant and also gives a better seamless texture drawing. It's there because in the previous versions of NL2000 we used this technique.
I hope this will help...
