Thanks Johan. Yes I modified the afcad file to use fixed runways for fs2002 and it works fine now. Still amazed with the level of detail of the scenery and love flying over the Netherlands (just get homesick so once in a while now...).

Some more info on my post. It seems to be related to the afcad file. If I remove the nl2000 one and restore the default fs2002 airport, I get proper runways assigned based on heavy wind 180 / 360 degrees. If i restore the nl2000 afcad file, it is only RW36L.
