Minimum system requirements

Before you start to download NL2000 version 4, please check if your system meets the minimum system requirements.

Distribution methods

NL2000 version 4.0 is distributed using the BitTorrent network, newsgroups and partly through Flight Simulator websites. The scenery is divided in modules, so that you can decide which parts you want to download and install. There are modules for each individual airport, the photo scenery per province, all 3D objects in the Netherlands (like cities, windmills and electricity pylons) and some special modules. The total size of NL2000 version 4.0 is 32 GB.

• BitTorrrent is a peer to peer file sharing protocol. It is a method to distribute large files at a low cost. See Wikipedia for more information about BitTorrent. You can download the NL2000 scenery using BitTorrent in two different ways. If you are familiar with using BitTorrent already you can download the .torrent files of the different modules. Else you would better use the Easy BitTorrent method, which is explained below.
  
  Warning! When downloading different modules using the .torrent files they will all show the name NL2000v4 in your BitTorrent client. This is normal behaviour and is caused by the fact that all files are put in the folder NL2000v4. The name shown in the BitTorrent client is always equal to the folder name where the files are stored.
  
  
• Easy BitTorrent method
  • Click on the link for Easy download of the module you want to download.
  • When asked to run or save the file, choose to save it.
  • Save the file on your disk, for example at your desktop.
  • Run the application you just downloaded by double clicking on it.
  • The program will ask you where the files should be saved. Choose a location with enough free disk space. The required size per module is indicated. Next click OK.
  • It could be that your firewall requests permission for the application to make a connection to the internet. Allow the application access to the internet.
  • The downloading will now begin. The screen will look like this:
    
  • Do not turn off your computer while the scenery is downloading. If you have to turn off or reboot your computer, the downloading will resume automatically when you turn it on again. Be aware that the downloading can take quite some time!
  • As long as you have the easy torrent application running you are also helping others to download the scenery. So please minimize the application and keep it running for about a week.
  
  
  
• News servers have special newsgroups to share applications (the so called binaries groups). The advantage of these groups is that they offer a relatively fast download option. The disadvantage however is that many providers remove the files after a couple of days or only have them available partially. There are paid newsgroups where the files remainavailable longer, sometimes up to 150 days. To make sure the downloaded zip files are correct, you can do a MD5 hash check. The MD5 hash codes are mentioned in the download table.
  
  
• A number of well known Flight Simulator websites, like www.flightsim.com and www.avsim.com, offer file libraries for FSX addons. Due to the size restrictions of file that can be uploaded to these libraries we are not able to offer you the photo scenery modules through this distribution method. To make sure the downloaded zip files are correct, you can do a MD5 hash check. The MD5 hash codes are mentioned in the download table.
