Get NL2000v4 on your USB disk at Aviodrome July 10 2010

For some users it is hard to download the entire scenery due to its huge size. Therefore we now offer an alternative way to get the scenery:

At the Aviodrome aviation musum in Lelystad (Netherlands) it is possible to copy the scenery onto your own USB disk. Be sure to bring an empty USB disk (at least 40 GB) and a USB cable with you. For security reasons the disk will first be formatted, so make sure it is empty.

You will have to pay an entrance and parking fees for visiting the Aviodrome museum. We are not sponsored by the museum, neither did we make a special deal with them. The museum is just a convenient place to offer this service.

And as an additional benefit, make sure to make a flight in the NLR simulator when you are in Aviodrome. This simulation is operated by some NL2000 members. You can find the simulation by walking towards the 'Connie' in the exposition hall. You will find a NL2000 flag on the wall there as well.

Be aware! Copying the scenery is only possible on the days that the simulator is open. Be sure to check the opening times of the simulator at http://www.aviosim.org/kalender.

Do you appreciate our freeware scenery? June 13 2010

Making and distributing this scenery is not free however. Therefore we give our users the option to VOLUNTARILY donate to the NL2000 team and help us cover our cost. All donations will be used to the benefit of the NL2000 scenery only.

Check this page to read more about the ways to donate to the NL2000 team.

Thanks in advance if you want to support us!

Release NL2000 version 4.0 May 28 2010

The Netherlands 2000 Scenery Design Team proudly announces the release of our scenery for FSX. The most important changes in the new version 4.0 are:

  • More recent and realistic aerial imagery.
  • More realistic water by employing the FSX techniques. Try to make a flight over the Wadden islands.
  • Trees and forests placed with autogen to blend more realistic into the environment and perform better.
  • Most airports have been adapted to the possibilities of FSX and the airports of Rotterdam (EHRD) and Eindhoven (EHEH) have even been rebuilt from scratch with stunning results.
  • The military airports now also have a photo realistic ground layout and for some military airports we offer a choice between an active and a non-active version.
  • Many additional objects are in place to make your VFR flights more interesting, for example wind turbine parks and high voltage pylons. All these objects have been converted for optimal performance in FSX.
  • Modular installation: only install the parts you want to use.

Besides all those improvements, there are also some elements from version 3.0 that are not available in version 4.0 yet. The most important elements are the airports of Schiphol (EHAM), Gilze-Rijen (EHGR) and Woensdrecht (EHWO). We will release those as soon as they are ready.

Click here for the download instructions if you want to try the new scenery directly. If you consider to donate to the NL2000 team, have a look at the donation page.

Enjoy your flight!

Finalizing NL2000 version 4 May 24 2010

The NL2000 values a good release of our scenery. Therefore the team is currently busy with the final preparations for the release of version 4.

Mid May has just passed and we are putting on the finishing touches. Please have a little more patience, so that version 4 can make a good take-off.... Keep an eye on the site for more news.

NL2000 scenery used for Royal Air Force animations May 19 2010

The Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) has made animations of the manoeuvres that the F-16 demo team of the Royal Netherlands Air Force flies during their airshows. These animations have been visualised in FSX, using the new NL2000 scenery as the background. Have a look at the animation on the website of the demo team, so that you can preview the new Volkel (EHVK) scenery. And soon, after the release of version 4.0, you will be able to fly these manoeuvres yourself!
